This is complete garbage, imho. Within just a few practice pulls, paint was coming off and very visible damage was occuring. It now looks completely fake. I tried to tell the effect's creator about it, and he said it was normal wear, and that I could still do the trick with it. Normal to start falling apart after no more than 3 practice uses. You have got to be kidding me!

My grandpa used to warn me about the quality of things made by Taiwan. or was that IN Taiwan. either way, this thing sucks. I even told Taiwan Ben that I figured out a way to improve the design (for mere pennies, with an add-on part that anyone can find at home or most any store), but he didn't even ask me how I did it. It doesn't seem like he cares about his customers or his own products.

Another thing. the angles. There are no angles. Straight on to one person (or a Youtube camera) or else the "gimmick" will be seen. I couldn't keep my 6 year old from seeing it when only performed for her! Not cool.

I say stay away from this one if you want to avoid disappointment.

I bought this trick after having seen it performed in a viral video that was sent to me. In that video, he hands out the baguette to be eaten afterward. This is not possible with what you receive. Also, any practical methods require other supplies not included in this purchase. It is a clever idea, but I don't see this one going into my act without a LOT more time and money spent. The concept is useful, however, for those of you inventors out there looking for a newer idea.

Women-owned downtown Charleston bakery opening soon in former WildFlour Pastry space

The 700-square-foot downtown Charleston space once occupied by the iconic WildFlour Pastry will soon be home to a new bakery that has had a presence on James Island since 2011.

Baguette Magic — known on James Island for fresh baked croissants, breakfast baguette sandwiches and fresh brewed coffee — will open at 73 Spring St. in the coming weeks, owners Paula and Sam Kramer told The Post and Courier. The café will debut with pastries, Second State coffee and espresso, and grab-and-go items.

In the future, the menu could expand to include more made-to-order breakfast and lunch options.

Mathieu Richard started Baguette Magic in 2009 as a farmers market stand before opening the retail location on Folly Road in 2011. After purchasing the business in 2019 and freshening up its menu, the Kramer sisters have brought lines of locals to Baguette Magic for breakfast and lunch, when they serve everything from almond croissants and house-made Pop-Tarts to avocado toast, brioche French toast and Italian sub sandwiches.

According to Paula Kramer, they enjoyed taking over the established James Island café, but they have been looking for a second location they could make their own. Signing the lease to the new downtown café coincided with minor renovations on James Island and their decision to move their production kitchen.

“We’ve been looking for a second location for quite a while,” said Paula Kramer, adding that they considered Mount Pleasant but could not find a workable option, due in part to the number of chain coffee shops in grocery store-anchored strip centers. “When we bought Folly Road we were limited by the infrastructure. It was exciting to get to work in a different space and do it the way that we want.”

Baguette Magic’s new Spring Street space comes with an interesting backstory. WildFlour, renowned for its sticky buns and the lines they inspired, was one of the first Charleston sweets producers to earn national acclaim, drawing tourists to Cannonborough-Elliotborough years before the neighborhood was dominated by short-term rentals.

After owner Lauren Mitterer ended a decadelong run downtown in July 2019 — opting to focus on her family and WildFlour’s West Ashley location — Chip Grimalda opened a Parisian-inspired café called Coquin at 73 Spring St. in November 2019. Five months after opening and weeks after the COVID-19 pandemic shuttered restaurant dining rooms across the country, Grimalda was accused of charging $18 for $2 frozen Costco pizza, which he denied.

Grimalda later rebranded the restaurant as The Jetty Lobster & Raw Bar and a short-lived café before giving up on the venture.

The Kramers signed the lease on April 22 after Grimalda opted out of his lease earlier this year.

The sisters have quickly brought new life to the space by giving it a clean, modern aesthetic with special touches from their grandmother, such as the vintage phone they remember her using at her home in Beaufort. There are two tables inside and four more on its outdoor patio.

“She did a lot of really amazing things,” Paula Kramer said, discussing other subtle nods to their grandmother inside the new café. “I think that is the coolest part … is getting to share that little part of you.”

Baguette Magic downtown is set to open in the coming weeks, and the Kramers plan to partner with local businesses for pop-ups ahead of its opening. For more information on their pop-up schedule, follow Baguette Magic on social media or visit baguettemagicchs.com.

Reviews for "The Magic Baguette and French Folklore: An Exploration"

1. Jane - 1/5 - I was really disappointed with the Magic Baguette. The description made it sound like a culinary masterpiece, but it fell way short of my expectations. The baguette was dry and tasteless, and the supposed "magic" was nowhere to be found. Save your money and go for a regular baguette instead.
2. Mark - 2/5 - I had high hopes for the Magic Baguette, but sadly it didn't live up to the hype. The concept is interesting, but the execution was lacking. The baguette was undercooked and the fillings were mediocre at best. I expected more magic and creativity in the flavors, but it felt like nothing more than a regular sandwich. Disappointing.
3. Sarah - 2/5 - The Magic Baguette was a letdown for me. I was expecting a unique and exciting dining experience, but it was just a regular baguette with some fancy presentation. The flavors were bland and the ingredients didn't really meld together well. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for something truly magical or out of the ordinary.
4. Alex - 3/5 - While the Magic Baguette had an interesting concept, I found it to be overhyped and overpriced. The presentation was impressive, but the taste was lacking. The baguette was dry and the fillings were mediocre. I appreciate the effort put into the presentation, but when it comes to food, taste should be the priority.
5. Emily - 2/5 - The Magic Baguette was a huge disappointment for me. The visuals were stunning, but the taste didn't match up. The baguette was stale and the flavors were underwhelming. I expected more creativity and magic in the flavors, but it just felt like an ordinary sandwich. Definitely not worth the price.
